ST. LOUIS (KMOX) — The No. 9 Tigers are in need of a point guard for Wednesday night when they face No. 21 Illinois for the annual Braggin’ Rights game.

Today, Missouri learned that guard Phil Pressey will be out for two weeks or more after sustaining a broken ring finger on his right hand during practice on Sunday.

Michael Dixon, the Tigers’ starting point guard at the beginning of the season, is currently serving an indefinite suspension.  Neither the length nor the reason for Dixon’s suspension have been disclosed by the University of Missouri.

Through 11 games in his first season with the Tigers, Phil Pressey has averaged 5.2 points, 4.1 assists, and 1.5 steals per game.  His best performance came last Sautrday in Missouri’s 116-63 victory over Central Arkansas when Pressey recorded his first collegiate career double-double with 15 points and 11 assists.

Marcus Denmon, Missouri’s leading scorer with 16.8 points per game, is expected to take control of the offense on Wednesday as the team’s point guard.

Phil Pressey’s brother, Matt, is also another option for Head Coach Mike Anderson.  However, Matt Pressey did not play last Saturday due to caution with a head injury that he incurred against Oral Roberts on December 16.
